One of the ways to find work in Canada or become a permanent resident under the Skilled Workers Program is by having an arranged employment.

Arranged employment in Canada is an offer made by a Canadian employer for a permanent position. This is one of the 6 factors under Canada’s new point system; the system used for selecting immigrants under the Skilled Worker category.  The other five factors are Education, Ability in English and/or French, Experience, Age, and Adaptability. The job offer made through the arranged employment is essentially a genuine job offer and should be approved by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC). This will allow you to work in Canada.

Look for opportunities for employment in Canada by checking out jobs available at the national jobbanks.  This is a website maintained by the Canadian government. Employers post job opportunities in this website.  You can also visit the website of Foreign Credentials Referral Office; they give jobseekers information on how to find work in Canada. Then obtain a job offer from a Canadian employer. If you are applying from outside Canada, the employer must make a written offer.  The offer must state that the employer will hire you once your application as a skilled worker is approved by the CIC.

If you are already in Canada and working on a temporary basis, your current employer is required to also make a written offer stating that he will give you a permanent employment in Canada if you are accepted as a skilled worker.  On both cases, you must make sure that the offers are valid, meaning it has a confirmation from the HRSDC.  If you are applying for work in Canada from abroad, your prospective employer must obtain a favorable Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO) from HRSDC.  The AEO confirms that the job offer is genuine, fulltime, permanent, and that the salaries and working conditions are satisfactory.
